This page covers every real way to get your KE duplicate bill. That means online, on WhatsApp, by SMS, and through the official KE Live app. It also explains why your bill might look different this month. You will also learn what to do if something on it looks wrong, and how to reach K-Electric or NEPRA if a complaint goes nowhere.

How to Check and Download Your KE Duplicate Bill Online

Getting your duplicate bill takes five simple steps.

  1. Open the bill checker above on your phone or computer.
  2. Type your 13-digit account number in the first box.
  3. Add your consumer number if you have it. This step is optional.
  4. Complete the captcha exactly as shown.
  5. Click View Bill. Your latest KE duplicate bill loads on screen.

Once it loads, you can also view several of your recent past bills, not just the current one. Pick any listed month to download or print that copy. This makes it easy to check your payment history or compare last month’s usage to this month’s.

Where Is the Account Number and Consumer Number on a KE Bill?

Your account number is a 13-digit code. It usually starts with 0400 and sits at the top right corner of your bill, near your name and address. Your consumer number is shorter, only 8 digits, and sits just below it. You only need the account number to check your bill. The consumer number is a backup, not a requirement.

If you cannot find either number, call the K-Electric helpline at 118 or 99000 with your address ready. For more information, see our Read Your Bill guide.

Check Through the KE Live App

The KE Live app, available on Android and iOS, lets you log in once and view every bill tied to your account. It suits people who check usage often. Think small business owners near SITE Industrial Area or shopkeepers along Tariq Road.

Why Is Your KE Bill Higher Than Usual?

A sudden jump in your bill usually comes down to one of three reasons.

The first is the Fuel Charge Adjustment, known as FCA. NEPRA approves this monthly based on how much fuel costs changed compared to a set reference price. It can be added months after the actual usage. Sometimes more than one month’s FCA lands on a single bill.

The second reason is crossing 200 units in a single month. Protected consumer status generally applies to non-Time-of-Use residential consumers who stay at or below 200 units per month, consistently, over the previous six months. Going over that limit can move you to standard, unprotected rates.

The third reason is an estimated reading. Sometimes K-Electric’s meter reader cannot access your meter. When that happens, your bill is calculated from your past usage instead. Once a real reading is taken, the difference is adjusted in a later bill.

ReasonWhat It MeansWhere to Check
Fuel Charge AdjustmentNEPRA-approved fuel cost recovery, can apply retroactivelyBill’s FCA line item
Crossed 200 unitsLost subsidized rate for 6 monthsConsumer Details section
Estimated readingMeter reader couldn’t access meterCompare to next month’s correction

Your exact tariff category and rate appear directly on your bill under Consumer Details. For the full current rate table, see our unit price guide. You can also check NEPRA’s official tariff notifications for the most current government-approved rates.

KE Peak Hours in Karachi

Electricity costs more during peak hours because demand rises sharply in the evening.

SeasonMonthsPeak Hours
SummerApril to October6:30 PM to 10:30 PM
6:30 PM to 10:30 PMNovember to March6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Older meters may not separately record peak and off-peak consumption, while newer Time-of-Use meters can record usage according to the applicable time periods.

Shifting heavy appliances like washing machines, irons, and water motors outside these hours can lower your monthly total.

Peak hours affect what you pay per unit, not whether you have power. If you’re looking for outage timings instead, see our KE load shedding schedule.

How to Pay Your KE Electricity Bill

You can pay online through JazzCash, Easypaisa, NayaPay, UPaisa, or your bank app. You can also pay in person at any bank branch, post office, or TCS center. K-Electric periodically runs cashback offers with partner banks and wallets. Check the official K-Electric website for current promotions.

For every payment method explained step by step, see our full K-Electric bill payment guide.

Using Your KE Bill as Proof of Address

Many people download a duplicate bill for reasons that have nothing to do with paying it. A recent utility bill is often requested as proof of address by banks, telecom providers, landlords, or government offices. Requirements vary by organization, so check the specific requirement before you submit it.

If you need the bill only as address proof, you do not need to complete the payment step. Download the PDF once it loads and it is ready to submit as is.

If the name on your bill needs updating, for example after buying the property, we have a guide for that. See how to change the name on your K-Electric bill.

What If Your KE Bill Is Wrong?

Start with K-Electric directly through WhatsApp, the helpline, or your nearest customer service center. If K-Electric does not resolve the issue, you may be able to escalate through the relevant NEPRA process. Depending on the issue, other complaint or ombudsman channels may also apply. Keep every receipt and reference number along the way.

For the full step by step complaint process, see our K-Electric complaint guide.

Solar and Net Billing With K-Electric

You can install solar panels and sell surplus electricity back to K-Electric. As of February 2026, NEPRA’s Prosumer Regulations replaced the older net metering framework with a new net billing system, which values exported and imported units differently rather than exchanging them one for one.

For the current rules, application process, and costs, see our K-Electric net metering guide.
